The DRRH6 Road Board is still looking to fill the 2 critical positions that will start January 1, 2026.
The DRRH 6 Special Road Board plays a crucial role in ensuring that our roads are maintained properly, by contracting with professionals to provide grading, graveling and snow plowing services. Well-maintained roads are essential not just for efficient travel but also for emergency services, and overall community well-being.
Without an active Special Road District, it would fall to individual homeowners to basically pass around a hat and take up collections to maintain the roads. Due to the fact that the roads within DRRH6 are Surface Level Access (SLA) Roads, Deschutes County will not maintain them under any circumstances, including dissolution of the road board.
The following volunteer positions are open, as both have terms ending on December 31.
Secretary: This position is responsible for taking minutes at meetings (4 times per year), responding to occasional community emails, and posting announcements for the community.
Treasurer: The position is responsible for maintaining the Road Board budget in collaboration with the President. The Treasurer will be responsible for the payment of invoices to contractors and working with Deschutes County on behalf of DRRH6, to coordinate county tax dollars that are used for yearly road maintenance in our community.
**If you're interested in helping support your DRRH6 community by fulfilling either of these important roles, candidates should contact the Road Board at: drrh6roadboard@gmail.com.
About the DRRH6 Special Road District Board: The DRRH 6 Special Road Board is made up of three volunteers: the President, Secretary and Treasurer. Each of these positions plays a critical part in the overall operation and coordination of the maintenance of the seven miles of roads in our small community. The board meets 4x per year.
